The Kingston area of the Hudson is very quiet and peaceful, so you could not ask for a better location for sailing lessons or pleasure cruising. There are many historic buildings along the shore, as well as some historic lighthouses to enjoy. There are also some great restaurants with a view of the waterfront, for dining after your cruise.
